    Description

    This is a World War II 1944 postcard captioned "General Sir R. L. Montgomery, K.C.B. D.S.O. 'Monty' Promoted to Field Marshal, September 14, 1944."  It has never been used.  It was published by Raphael Tuck & Sons.  Someone has written "He's a great soldier and a British idle (idol?)" on the back.   It is in terrific crisp and clean condition.
